County Office

Introducing the County Office Team

County Co-ordinator, Julie Spink

Julie is a former Knaresborough YFC member from the olden days pre mobile phones, Tik Tok and air fryers!  She keeps in touch with her local club as a member of the Advisory Committee and can be found at the Knaresborough Tractor Run as a road marshal and a member of the KTR Committee.  Julie previously was a youth worker working across North Yorkshire and she also worked with people with learning disabilities in a horticultural setting.

Julie enjoys visiting the beaches on the East Coast seaglass hunting and also likes to utilise her YFC skills by competing at Aldborough and Ripley Shows in the baking, floral art and handicraft sections.  She’s keen to see YFYFC members thrive and develop, learn new skills and fulfil their potential through competitions, attending events and taking on officer roles.

Field Development Officer, Karen Wasden

Karen started in YFC when she was 10 years old at Catterick YFC and has never left since. Whilst being in Catterick YFC she was Club Chairman for two years, a keen stock judge and went to National to compete in Floral Art. She left her in age membership as Cledales District Chairman, and now holds the title of District President.  Karen spends her days working as a chef at a childcare facility and works on an evening as YFYFC Field Development Officer supporting the clubs and districts.

Karen is well and truly YFC at heart. She can be often seen at YFC events stewarding, helping behind the bar, or at Club and District AGM’s completing DBS checks and supporting your club and members develop.

The Field Team

Helping You To Run Your Club

The Field Team is here to support YFC members, officers and volunteers around the county.  We visit clubs and districts, delivering information, advice and guidance in order to help the Federation run effectively and enable those running clubs to get the help that they need whilst still getting the most from their YFC experience.

With many junior members now involved with YFC we have a duty of care to act in the best interests of children at all times and we need to ensure that all those involved with running clubs are able to access help and support when they need it.

Each club is run by the members, for the members, with local advice from Advisory Committees, Club Leaders and Presidents.  However, training for specific officer roles is available from YFYFC and we are keen to promote this.
