The Field Team is here to support YFC members, officers and volunteers around the county. We visit clubs and districts, delivering information, advice and guidance in order to help the Organisation run effectively and enable those running clubs to get the help that they need whilst still getting the most from their YFC experience.
With many junior members now involved with YFC we have a duty of care to act in the best interests of children at all times and we need to ensure that all those involved with running clubs are able to access help and support when they need it.
Each club is run by the members, for the members, with local advice from Advisory Committees, Club Leaders and Presidents. However, training for specific officer roles is available from YFYFC and we are keen to promote this.
The Field Team will help you to

Most importantly, the Field Team can help put the FUN in YFC.
Training and development form a great part of the YFC experience. Weekends away are held for all age groups, usually on an annual basis. These weekends are a great opportunity to meet other members from other parts of the County and share your YFC knowledge and expand your horizons.
Junior members partake in challenging activities at a registered activity centre, whilst older members undertake a varied programme of events, providing an opportunity to shape the future of our Organisation. Look out for information about these events.
The democratic process is extremely important for those involved with YFYFC. We are always looking for members to get out of their “comfort zone” within Clubs and Districts, to work with other senior officers around the County and have a hand in the decision making process. It offers great opportunities to hold high office and represent the views of your members – these opportunities really do offer “skills for life”.
Competitions are the backbone of the YFC calendar. Although varying slightly each year, all competitions offer the opportunity to try something new, work with others to represent your club and even qualify for Northern Area or the National competitions. The Field Team can help with training for competitions such as stock judging or public speaking. See your handbook for further details on competitions.
Parents should rest assured that we take safeguarding our young people seriously. Those in positions of trust are asked to complete a DBS check at enhanced level and we have policies in place to ensure that events are planned with safety in mind and risk assessments are completed. County Office has all the resources required to enable members to undertake safe activities and organisers are able to access these resources at all times.
YFYFC is a partner organisation of York and North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children’s Board. Regular meetings are attended and reporting procedures are in place should a safeguarding incident occur.
Recent changes in the law regarding data protection mean that we have updated our systems and procedures to reflect the changes made and we are fully compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulations.
