Activate Days during Young Farmers’ Week 2024
Our junior members had a great time at the Activate Days on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2024. 38 members tried new challenges including kayaking, raft building, archery and the climbing wall overcoming fears and helping one and other succeed!
Huge thanks to Carlton Lodge Activity Centre for looking after us so well and the volunteers who gave up their free time to suppor the juniors. #YFCForEveryone!
Rural Skills Day 2024
On Saturday 5th October 2024, our competitors travelled to Linton, near Grassingto to compete in our Rural Skills Day. Competitions included: Orienteering, Dry Stone Walling, Fence Erecting, Shee Dog Trials, and exhibits, Open Jar of Marmalade, Thank You Card, Hen or Duck Nestbox and Ploughman’s Lunch.
Huge thank you to Upper Wharfedale YFC for hosting the event and Mr Roger Charnley for allowing us to use his land and Mr Ted Mason for organising the orienteering course.






















50th Anniversary Service of Celebration and Afternoon Tea
On Sunday 23rd June 2024 we gathered together for a Service of Celebration at St. Michaels Church, Kirklington, Bedale with Reverend James Gwyn-Thomas. The welcome was kindly given by County President Adrian Willis, with a bible reading given by Isabelle Bush of Farnley Estate YFC, a poem written and presented by Kelly Armitage, Lawkland YFC and prayers by Joe Holmes, Worth Valley YFC. After a beautiful service we were served afternoon tea in the village hall by Rosie, Emma and Erin from Lawkland YFC. It was lovely to get together to reminisce about times gone by, remember absent friends and wonder what the next fify years holds for YFYFC.

County Rally 2024 – Saturday 25th May 2024
We took Thirsk by storn on Saturday 25th May 2024, for our 50th Anniversary County Rally, with 1393 exhibits in Section 3 and a fantastic turnout of members from across the County competing in stockjudging, team competitions and tug-of-war. Thank you to our headline sponsors GSC Grays and all our individual competition sponsors, livestock and equipment providers, our hosts the directors of Thirsk Auction Mart and not forgetting our judges, stewards and scorers for giving up their free time.
After an exciting presentation we are delighted to announce that overall club winners are Penistone YFC, small club winners Lawkland YFC and overall winning district Cledales. Game on for 2025!
























































































































County Dairy 2024 – Sunday 19th May 2024
We had a great turnout at County Dairy on Sunday 19th May 2024, at JG Waterhouses dairy farm judging Ayrshire cows. Huge thanks to our host James Waterhouse and all our judges, stewards and scorers for a fantastic morning.








Yorkshire AGM – Bridge Inn, Walshford – Friday 10th May 2024
Thank you to everyone who attended our 50th Yorkshire AGM, we had a great evening celebrating the past 12 months and looking forward to a year of events and competitions. Thank you to Mr Jim Barton, Honorary Life Member and Mr Adrian Willis County President for presenting the awards. Huge thanks to Stuart Robson and Alex McMenemy from County Durham YFC who judged the Best Speech of the evening presenting the Alan Goldie Trophy to Ben Robinson, from Tadcaster & Wetherby YFC.






















Supper On Us – The Gamekeepers Inn, Threshfield – Tuesday 23rd April 2024
It was great to collaborate with Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Future Farmers, and Yorkshire Rural Support Network to attend the Supper On Us evening supporting farming families get together for a social evening following the ongoing wet weather. Thank you to Joe Holmes, Chairman of the Events, Finance and General Purposes Committee for acting as Quiz Master and YAS for providing Great Yorkshire Show family ticket prizes.







Northern Area Weekend – Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd March 2024
We had a great time hosting the Northern Area Weekend at The Graham School, Scarborough at the beginning of March. Huge thanks to our headline sponsors GSC Grays who supported the event throughout the weekend alongside YPTC, North Yorkshire Councils Locality Budget and Kuhn.

Public Speaking & Show Choir – Sunday 21st January 2024
Huge thank you to our sponsors Harrowells Solicitors for sponsoring our competitions day once again. We had a great turn out of members with Settle District taking home the overall winning district trophy. Ten Pin Bowling – Thursday 7th December 2023
Last fun competition of the year took us to York Ten Pin, where 156 members took part in Ten Pin Bowling. Many thanks to our stewards for hosting the event.















Live & Carcase – Sunday 26th October 2023
We had a great turn out at our Live & Carcase competition on Sunday 26th October 2023, kindly hosted by J&E Medcalfs. Competitors judged beef or lamb carcases and live stock. Huge thank you to our judges and stewards for officiating at the event.



































Activate Days – 21st & 22nd October 2023
Our junior members were delighted to attend Carlton Lodge Activity Centre at Thirsk and navigated their way through a day of challenges, including kayaking, climbing wall, archery and zip line.


















Rural Skills Day – Saturday 7th October 2023
Settle District YFC and the Booth family kind hosted the Rural Skills Day on Saturday 7th October 2023 at Wigglesworth, near Skipton. A great turn out of members competing in Sheep Dog Trials, Orienteering, Dry Stone Walling, and exhibits, jar of lemon curd, boot pull, thank you card and fruit pie.

First Aid Training – Ebor & Harrogate District – 5th October 2023
30 club officers attending a basic first aid save-a-life course with FAB Training on Thursday 5th October 2023 at Arkendale Community Hall, near Knaresborough. Each participant on completion of the course received a first aid kit to use at their club.






Live For Today and YFYFC Training – 2nd July 2023
Our members had a fabulous day at Ripley Castle participating in team building, high ropes and a Young Farmer Session, learning about officer roles and the YFYFC structure.










Peat Rigg Residential – March 2023
Our junior members had a great time visiting Peat Rigg Outdoor Centre, near Pickering in March 2023. After learning how to make their beds, our juniors participated in archery, Jacobs ladder, abseiling off a viaduct and blind fold night time explore!


































































































Public Speaking Competitions Day 2023
We had a fantastic day of Public Speaking Competitions on Sunday 22nd January 2023 with a high standard of competitions. During #HomeGrown new members week, we were delighted to visit J&E Medcalfs in Halifax for our annual Live & Carcase competition in October 2022.

















Kingswood Dearne Valley 2022
Our intrepid junior explorers visited Kingswood Dearne Valley in October 2022. The Activate Residential Weekend gave them a basic understanding of the Young Farmers’ movement alongside trying new challenges and learning new skills. From archery and abseiling, to making beds and bushcraft skills.








Great Yorkshire Show 2022
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped man the stand over the four day show. From helping with the World Record Tea Drinking attempt, meeting HRH Princess Anne and Adam Henson judging our banner competition, we had a blast!






Farm Valuation 2022
Members from across the County visited Ryedale District to compete in the Farm Valuation competition. Huge thanks to our host Mr Andrew Wilson for providing some great equipment to value.









Ten-pin Bowling 2021
Over 150 members descended upon Tenpin York, with Knaresborough YFC taking the team trophy. A good night was had by all!
