Christmas Tree Collection – in partnership with Sue Ryder

The Events, Finance and Marketing Committee have agreed to work in partnership with Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice based in Leeds by collecting Christmas Trees to recycle from 8th January 2022 until 11th January 2022 initially.

We need your help by providing vans, trucks, tractors and trailers; driving them on a pre-determined route in the LS19 and LS20 area (Yeadon, Rawdon and Guiseley) with volunteer tree picker-uppers!  ๐Ÿšœ ๐Ÿšš ๐Ÿš›

A team from Settle District will also be collecting trees in the BD24 area – if you are interested in helping Settle District – please contact Anna Booth directly.

Sue Ryder will kindly book all the trees in and collect the funds and we will collect the trees and dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner. ๐ŸŒฒ ๐ŸŒฒ ๐ŸŒฒ

So, we are looking for vehicles and drivers and also willing volunteers.

All you need is a sunny friendly disposition, work boots, gloves and a hi-viz vest.  Drivers need to ensure their vehicle/trailer is insured privately, however the NFU Mutual will be insuring the Christmas Tree collection.

๐Ÿ˜ Please see the attached rota and please volunteer for as many shifts as you can manage.  Team up with friends; get your family, parents, Club Leaders and Advisory Committee involved.  ๐Ÿ˜The more people that lend a hand the more funds we will raise.

Why would my club want to get involved?

We have developed a partnership with Sue Ryders with

  • 50% of the funds being allocated to Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice
  • 25% to your YFC club
  • 25% to Yorkshire FYFC

Last year Worth Valley YFC raised over ยฃ20K in the pilot scheme, so we know it is worth our while doing this.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a green recycling campaign whilst raising money for 2 great charities – Sue Ryder and Young Farmers whilst working off those mince pies and that sherry trifle!

Please return your completed form to County Office by 20th December 2021.

We look forward to receiving your rota and raising lots of money for great causes.
