On Thursday 22nd April 2021, Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs held their Executive Committee AGM online for a second year running. Ed Bentley of Helmsley YFC was elected as Chairman, with Vice Chairman Tim Weatherhead of Knaresbourgh YFC continuing for a second year.
Ed takes over from outgoing chair Georgina Fort.
The past year has been very difficult for everyone in their personal and working lives, and YFC is no different. Almost overnight, all in-person club meetings were forced to stop, and any interactions between members have had to be online using Zoom/Teams.
Accepting the position of Chairman, Ed addressed the members:
“Firstly, on behalf of members and the Federation, I would like to thank Georgie for all her hard work over the past two years as County Chair and wish her and new family well.
With Covid-19 restrictions gradually being lifted, there now seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel, and Clubs can start meeting, all be it in a restricted way. Restarting of Clubs and Districts is going to be a challenge in the next few months, but one I’m up for!
